MACADA Annual Advising Awards 2024

Awards are presented at the annual conference each fall in three categories: Outstanding Academic Advisor, Pacesetter, and Graduate Student Conference Scholarship.

MACADA Outstanding Academic Advisor Awards

The MACADA Outstanding Academic Advisor Awards recognize outstanding advisors in three sub-categories.

  • Academic Advising, Primary Role: Individuals whose primary role at the institution is the direct delivery of advising services to students.
  • Faculty Academic Advising: Individuals whose primary responsibility is teaching and who spend a portion of their time providing academic advising services to students.
  • Academic Advising Administrator: Individuals who may provide direct academic advising services but whose primary responsibility is as an administrator or director of an academic advising program.
  • New Academic Advisor: Individuals who have demonstrated qualities associated with outstanding academic advising of students and who have served as a professional advisor or a faculty member with advising duties for a period of three (3) or fewer years calculated from the deadline for submission.
Outstanding Advisor Nomination Form

Eligibility:

Any individual serving as an academic advisor, faculty academic advisor, or advising administrator and employed by a regionally accredited post-secondary institution may be nominated. MACADA membership is not required. Currently elected or appointed MACADA board members are not eligible. Previous MACADA Outstanding Advising Award winners from the past five years are not eligible. Only one nominee per category from each institution will be considered.

Award:

The individuals in each category will be awarded a certificate, one year MACADA membership, and conference registration.

MACADA Pacesetter Award

The MACADA Pacesetter Award recognizes administrators who exemplify a commitment to academic advising and are advocates for advising and student success.

Pacesetter Nomination Form

Eligibility:

Individuals nominated should be up-line administrators and have no direct involvement with or responsibility for the administration of advisors or advising. The nominee need not be a MACADA member. Previous winners are not eligible.

Award:

The individual selected will be awarded a certificate, one year MACADA membership, and conference registration.

Graduate Student Conference Scholarship Award

This scholarship provides graduate students pursuing a degree in a related field with an interest in academic advising an opportunity to attend the MACADA annual conference.

Graduate Student Scholarship Form

Eligibility:

Individuals should be graduate students pursuing advanced education in programs related to academic advising, student support, higher education administration, or related fields are encouraged to apply.

Award:

The individual selected will be invited to attend the annual MACADA Conference in the fall as a guest of the MACADA Executive Board and will receive a complimentary one year MACADA membership and conference registration.
